Appointment 1 June 2021
The Council of Mayors of the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Pierre Caza as Director General and Secretary-Treasurer effective May 17 2021.
Pierre Caza succeeds Mr. Laurent Lampron, who had accepted in March 2018 to undertake a financial and organizational restructuring of the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent, which was at the time running an accumulated deficit amounting to $1.3 million.
“On behalf of myself and the Council, I would like to thank Mr. Laurent Lampron who, over 38 months of intense work, successfully ended the year 2020 with an accumulated surplus of half a million dollars. The appointment of Mr. Caza turns the page on a new chapter that promises to be very interesting in terms of stability and development,” said Louise Lebrun, the Prefect for the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent.
As part of his duties, Mr. Caza will benefit from his familiarity with the Haut-Saint-Laurent and his nearly twenty years’ experience in management positions in land use planning and regional development, including more than a decade with the Fédération de l’UPA de la Montérégie. Native to Saint-Anicet, he served as mayor of the municipality from 1990 to 1994, and as chief of staff for the Member of Parliament for La Prairie from 2016 to 2019. A strong professional background, combined with his unifying style of leadership, made him the ideal candidate to lead the team at the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent in the realization of the Council’s vision over the coming years.
“As part of my mandate and in concert with the Council, I will contribute to the development of projects that are fundamental to the region, without losing sight of the legacy left by my predecessor in terms of the financial health of the organization and the great team behind this exceptional organization,” says Mr. Caza.
As for Mr. Lampron, he admits that he discovered a remarkable region in the Haut-Saint-Laurent. On the eve of his departure for a well-deserved retirement, he leaves his duties at the MRC with a sense of accomplishment and a touch of nostalgia.
“From the moment I took office, my goal was to stay until I was certain that I was leaving behind an organization that was financially and organizationally sound. As that mission has been accomplished, it is time to move on while passing on this role to a successor in whom I have complete confidence. I am leaving my duties, but not the region; without a doubt I will return to the area due to its beautiful attractions and the bonds created over the past three years.”
