Saint-Anicet Municipality

Four Special Collections for all citizens of the Haut-Saint-Laurent

For Hazardous household waste (HHW), electric devices and electronics, small and medium-sized household appliances, etc.

If you live in Dundee, Elgin, Franklin, Godmanchester, Havelock, Hinchinbrooke, Howick, Huntingdon, Ormstown, Saint-Anicet, Saint-Chrysostome, Sainte-Barbe, or Très-Saint-Sacrement please bring your household hazardous waste (HHW), your electrical devices, and electronics, as well as small and medium-sized household appliances and refrigeration appliances (less than 100 lb/50 kg or 3 cu. ft.) to one of four special collections that will take place between June and September. All materials collected will be recycled or treated appropriately so as not to harm human health or the environment, which is not the case if these items are disposed of in your household garbage, in the sewer system or more broadly in nature.

In 2022, collections will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on:

  • Saturday, June 11 at the Municipal Garage in Saint-Anicet, 5001 Route 132;
  • Saturday, July 23 at the Ecocentre in Ormstown, 9 St. Paul Street;
  • Friday, August 12 at the Municipal Garage in Havelock, 481 Route 203; and
  • Friday, September 16 at the Town Hall in Sainte-Barbe, 470 chemin de l’Église.

Only household products will be accepted. Agricultural, industrial and commercial waste, as well as tires and medication, will be refused. It is strongly recommended to have proof of residence in hand.

HHW that is generated at home contains one or more properties of a hazardous substance (flammable, leachable, toxic, corrosive, explosive, oxidizing), whether in liquid, viscous, paste, gaseous or powdered form. Other objects can also be HHW-like, such as computer equipment, refrigerators or batteries because of the chemicals and heavy metals they contain. For example, the following products and their containers should be taken to one of the collections instead of being thrown away: acids, fertilizers, batteries, used oil and filters, paint, pesticides, propane, antifreeze, maintenance and cleaning products, aerosols, pool chemicals, and televisions.

For a more complete list of accepted domestic products, visit the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent’s website: http://mrchsl.com/en/services/....

EPRA-Québec’s Recycle My Electronics program will take charge of all electronics brought to the special collection. To see a list of all of the accepted electric and electronic products (televisions, keyboards, headphones, etc.), go to: www.recyclemyelectronics.ca/qc/what-can-i-recycle.
