MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent cultural development restrospective and winners of the group exhibition and photography contest

An evening highlighting the achievements in cultural development over the past year at the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent took place on December 14 at the Alfred Langevin Cultural Hall in Huntingdon. The program included a retrospective of the cultural activities held by the MRC in 2022, a summary of the different development projects and agreements in progress, as well as the awarding of prizes to the winners of the annual photography contest and group art exhibition organized by the MRC as part of the Culture Days or Journées de la Culture activities in the region.

More than $2,000 were awarded by the MRC and its sponsors, including the Galeries Ormstown and the Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent.

The president of the MRC cultural policy committee and local artists, John Ryan, presented the first four awards to the winning artists who participated in the group exhibition on behalf of the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent. The three prizes awarded for the photography contest in the juried youth category were presented by Éric Amyot, a representative of the Caisse Desjardins, which sponsored the category. The three prizes in the juried adult category were presented by André Brunette, the MRC deputy prefect and mayor of the town of Huntingdon on behalf of the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent. In the absence of a representative from DMR Immobilier (Galeries Ormstown), Chantal Isabelle, the assistant director general and assistant clerk treasurer, presented the awards for the people’s choice in both the youth and adult categories. DMR Immobilier also provided the venue for the photography exhibit, which took place at the Galeries Ormstown.

In addition to these prizes, two gift baskets filled with local products, worth just under $100, were drawn at random from the participants who voted in the photography contest.

The MRC would like to congratulate all the winners, and thanks its generous sponsors as well as the participants in its cultural activities.
