Citizens invited to help create a dynamic community by developing actions for today and tomorrow
The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is inviting all citizens to come together and participate in the annual Social Development Forum. Scheduled for April 17, at 1 pm, this free event is open to all, and will be preceded by a networking lunch for interested participants.
“Social development involves, among other things, creating the conditions for each individual to reach their full potential. The issues we are tackling influence the lives of everyone, regardless of their age. An action plan such as this must evolve with the community, which is why citizen participation is so critical in keeping it up to date,” says Anick Lacroix, the Social Development Agent for the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent.
Seven committees are currently working on implementing specific actions related to a set of critical issues that were previously identified – educational and social success; food security, health and healthy lifestyles; access to services; the local economy and tourism; sports, leisure and culture; housing; transportation. The Forum offers the perfect opportunity to join in the discussion as part of one of the working committees, which bring together Francophone and Anglophone partners from the municipal and community sectors, as well as education and health and social services. This year, participants will also be able to voice their opinions at more than one table. The Forum will take place at the Ormstown Recreation Centre.
