150 years ago, a military conflict took place in Trout River. The Huntingdon Borderers formed the Canadian advance guard, under Col. George Bagot of the British 69th Regiment. They defeated The Fenians, a group of extremist patriots, from the United States who were trying to invade Canada. Following this event, Prince Arthur himself came to Huntingdon to grant the brave volunteers the Royal Victorian Medal.
The cultural committee of the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent wants to mark the anniversary of the event which took place on May 27, 1870.
